Investment Associate – Portfolio Management
As a fast-growing company of over two hundred people, we are looking for a talented Investment Associate to join our team in the Boston office. The Investment Associate will be a key part of teams that manage multi-asset class client portfolios. In addition, the Investment Associate will have exposure to asset manager diligence projects and will be expected to contribute to broader Firm development. As a rapidly growing firm, we seek new team members who are dynamic and comfortable working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
Portfolio Management (Primary Focus): The Investment Associate will primarily work in teams of three to six people to specify, develop and execute our clients’ investment strategies. This will involve, among other things, the setting of long-term asset allocation strategy, the selection of approved investment funds to achieve this strategy, the ongoing monitoring, management and continual improvement of the investment line-up and the production of materials for client meetings to report on investment performance and discuss investment strategy. With support and training, we expect you to grow into a position to be able to attend these meetings and develop relationships with clients.
Asset Manager Due Diligence/Monitoring (Secondary Focus): As part of the Investment Associate’s broader Portfolio Management responsibilities, you will, from time to time, be involved with due diligence and monitoring of asset managers in client portfolios. You will be responsible for conducting qualitative (e.g. understanding strategy, portfolio construction and business structure) and quantitative (e.g. historical performance analysis and risk exposures) analyses on existing and prospective asset managers. The role requires strong Excel modelling skills, the ability to understand complicated investment strategies and professional gravitas.
Other: In addition to the above, you will, for variety, take on other activities and projects, which might include: researching and improving our portfolio construction knowledge and approach, assisting with business development, or helping to develop our technological capabilities.
The ideal candidate will have strong quantitative skills, be detail focused, and have an interest in investment and capital markets. A flexible entrepreneurial approach, an appetite for challenge and a good “team player” are essential qualities.
