Transformation Office Principal

Role Description

Partners Capital is at an inflection point, where we are transitioning ourselves from a small-to-medium size company to a large institution with global scale and operations and significant growth agenda. As part of this preparation, we are building a strategy and transformation team (‘Transformation Office’) that will support senior management in shaping the firm’s strategic vision and  transforming business operations, processes and technology by designing and implementing strategic initiatives. To that end, we are now looking for an experienced and high calibre Principal to join the Transformation Office and help shape the overall transformation agenda, drive product and systems architecture roll-out and upgrades and help deliver operational excellence. Some current initiatives which are led by the Transformation Office include CRM implementation, upgrades to billing and execution management systems and designing and implementing client portal and CIO dashboards.

The candidate must have considerable project and change management experience particularly in relation to project planning, resource management, business requirements gathering and testing, solution design and implementation and multi-stakeholder engagement. The candidate will be expected to take ownership of entire projects or work-streams within wider programmes, working collaboratively and flexibly with the global project team and business stakeholders. The candidate will report to the Head of Strategy & Transformation and will have responsibility for executing transformation mandates working with the global business and technology stakeholders.

Position Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of strategic transformation projects working closely with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Provide professional and dedicated project and change management skills to the business lines facilitating successful delivery of regulatory, product and client driven initiatives.
  • Work with the business lines to identify solutions for the enhancement, development and implementation of scalable and robust operating models and solutions, ensuring alignment to strategic business initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain individual project plans to ensure the successful implementation of tactical and strategic initiatives, including the identification of milestones, deadlines, critical path items and resource requirements. Work with the business to develop the business case for new projects, including cost benefit analysis.
  • Produce the required project documentation - e.g., project plan, solution design and requirements, risks and issues logs, status reports, closures reports, lessons learned and post implementation reviews.
  • Work closely with the technology team to ensure that business requirements are translated into technical specifications and systematic solutions where required. Work with business and operational partners to ensure readiness around acceptance of new requirements and technology.
  • Assess third-party solutions and evaluate the impact of new products or business initiatives. Define solutions to address potential shortcomings.  Prioritise actions to update the Transformation Office three-to-five-year plan.  Present and agree the recommended actions with senior management.
  • Track the status of Transformation Office actions through the life cycle of each project. Proactively escalate concerns or issues. Example project responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Lead and oversee project meetings. Draft and distribute agenda and minutes. Track actions to completion.
    • Define and monitor objectives and key results (OKRs).
    • Assess project resource requirements across the business and technology.
    • Track, monitor and prioritise project actions.
    • Manage the enhancement and/or re-engineering of business processes, as needed.
    • Oversee change management activities (i.e., impact identification and tracking, stakeholder management, communications and engagement, training development and delivery before and after go-live).
    • Create and implement testing plans to ensure desired outcomes are achieved.
    • Assess post project technology and resource needs.
    • Liaise with internal teams, where necessary, to manage projects through to successful completion.
    • Conduct a debrief on completion of the project to celebrate success and to ensure lessons are learned and knowledge is shared for future projects.

Position Skills and Attributes

  • 7-10 years of experience in project management or process re-engineering with experience implementing complex, multi-faceted projects and initiatives.
  • Strong track record of delivering complex projects in the Financial Services industry; project experience in Asset or Investment Management is a plus.
  • Familiarity with various project management methodologies (Agile, Six Sigma and Prince2) and tools (Asana).
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Experience managing up and partnering with senior leaders.
  • A team player with the ability to thrive in a collaborative, global working environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and consensus with peers and senior leaders.
  • An intellectually curious self-starter who is energised by contributing to the success of the business.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Undergraduate degree with a strong track record of academic achievement.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).

The salary is competitive and includes a performance bonus as well as a company bonus.
