Position Description

Partners Capital is seeking a Principal to join our Boston-based People Team to focus on Business Partnership and People Operations. The ideal candidate is an experienced human capital (HC) professional who is eager to support our growing People Function and North American business. This role will provide the opportunity to focus on the breadth of HC disciplines and bring a depth and understanding to further develop our operational capability. We are looking for someone who has knowledge of HC best practices and experience in a variety of HC disciplines including employment law and employee relations, policies and policy management, total rewards (compensation, benefits, and recognition), immigration, workforce planning, data reporting and analytics, and technology and operations enablement (HRIS, employee transactional management, vendor management, budgeting, etc.) This candidate will also operate as an HC Business Partner supporting the North American team.

As a fast-growing, 350+ person company (with 175+ employees in North America), we are seeking someone who operates independently and is motivated, entrepreneurial, adaptable and comfortable working on a small team in an extremely fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

The ideal candidate will be instrumental in aligning HC practices with business goals and collaborating with other leaders to drive a high-performance culture. This individual will play a critical role in supporting the Firm’s North American team (across our four NA offices: Boston HQ, Dallas, New York and San Francisco).

Reporting to the Managing Director and Head of People, North America, the HC professional will collaborate with leaders across all levels to implement effective HC solutions and drive excellence. A deep understanding of the NA business and goals is essential. This role requires keen judgement, which is required to help identify and address needs in a variety of areas. This individual will cultivate strong, trusting relationships with internal clients, acting as a coach, partner and confidant to leaders, managers, and employees throughout the employee lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Function as the People Business Partner for our Investment and Operations teams across all four North American Office and across all levels.
  • Lead HC operations enablement, including payroll and benefit administration, systematic employee management, vendor management and other operational capabilities. In addition, responsible for human capital technology and the respective partnerships.
  • Provide guidance and demonstrate expertise across all people-related matters; advise on HC policies, employee relations and compliance with laws, while proactively managing risks and resolving issues.
  • Further evolve operational people capabilities to create a more effective and efficient people function. In some cases, build new operational capabilities.
  • Contribute to the creation and refinement of HC policies and procedures to support the organization and employees effectively.
  • In support of the people function, responsible for budget, cost, project management and planning.
  • Lead total rewards programming with a focus on compensation, benefits and rewards and recognition.
  • Support the Firm’s annual compensation programming and process. This includes year-round benchmarking, management of ad hoc requests and analysis, reporting, record keeping, supporting decisions and managing communications.
  • Manage HC reporting and data analytics both recurring and ad hoc needs. Leverage HC data to uncover trends and insights to drive informed decision-making.
  • Lead and partner on projects and planning, maintaining a results-oriented approach.
  • Employ a data-driven approach to advance people team initiatives, aligning with our growth objectives.
  • Support the Head of People, North America with ad hoc projects, both for North America and globally.
  • Key responsibilities may be assessed and are subject to change from time to time based on the needs of the team and business.
  • In addition, all Partners Capital team members have the following requirements:
  • Responsible for ensuring all information security processes, policies and procedures are adhered to and any issues or concerns are raised with the Cyber Security team.
  • Ensure full compliance with all local data protection regulations and privacy controls, and any related issues are raised via the appropriate channels.

Qualifications / Attributes

Bachelor’s degree or related field

  • 8-10+ years’ experience in human resources or human capital consulting
  • Ability to operate and multitask in a fast paced and “results focused” environment with strong attention to detail and commercial approach
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to connect People Team practices to business results
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trust, engage and influence at all levels
  • Proactive and solution-oriented, with excellent project management, organization, prioritization, written/verbal communication and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Proficient in managing and resolving conflict in a constructive manner across all seniority levels. High degree of professionalism and sound judgement with understanding of when and how to escalate issues
  • Ability to handle a high-level of confidentiality, discretion, and sensitivity regarding employee information
  • Extensive experience in employee relations, including handling complex cases and advising leadership Familiar with state-specific HC guidance to enable supporting client groups across the United States
  • Quick learner with sound judgment
  • Proven ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Proactive and solution-oriented, with proven success in supporting large-scale initiatives within an organization
  • Intellectually curious, adaptable and inclusive team player willing to do whatever it takes to contribute to the success of the business
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
