People Team, Principal (Talent)
Position Description
Partners Capital is seeking a Principal to join our Boston-based People Team to focus on Talent Management.
The ideal candidate is an experienced human capital (HC) professional who is eager to support our growing People Function and North American business. This role will provide the opportunity to focus on a breadth of HC discipline and bring a depth and understanding to further develop our Talent Management operation. We are looking for someone who has knowledge of HC best practices and experience in a variety of HC disciplines including learning and development, talent and performance optimization, and talent programs and planning. This candidate will also operate as an HC Business Partner to a defined client group(s).
As a fast-growing, 350+ person company (with 175+ employees in North America), we are seeking someone who operates independently and is motivated, entrepreneurial, adaptable and comfortable working on a small team in an extremely fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
The ideal candidate will be instrumental in aligning HC practices with business goals and collaborating with other leaders to drive a high-performance culture. This individual will play a critical role in supporting the Firm’s North American team (across our four NA offices: Boston HQ, Dallas, New York and San Francisco).
Reporting to the Managing Director and Head of People, North America, the HC professional will collaborate with leaders across all levels to implement effective HC solutions and drive excellence. A deep understanding of the NA business and goals is essential. This role requires keen judgement, which is required to help identify and address needs in a variety of areas. This individual will cultivate strong, trusting relationships with internal clients, acting as a coach, partner and confidant to leaders, managers and employees throughout the employee lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Lead North America learning and development programming including onboarding, management and leadership development, technical training and other interventions for key business and people needs. Opportunity to optimize and scale current programing.
- Lead the North American annual performance management program and processes. Program includes annual objective setting, mid-year, year-end, promotion management and talent assessment. Partner with global team to drive consistency across regions.
- Partner with Head of People, North America to build North American succession planning program and processes with a focus on benefits and outcomes resulting in integration with other talent activities.
- Lead the North American engagement program and processes focused on driving satisfaction throughout the organization. Partner with the global team on annual engagement surveys.
- Lead the mentorship program across business lines. This involves collaborating with the business to review and revise mentor pairings and support the education/development of all NA mentors. Collaborate with cross regional mentors to ensure familiarly with NA programming.
- Partner with Head of People, NA to support both global and NA talent updates. This includes quarterly board materials, progress against objectives and broader business updates to the global team (quarterly global meetings, NA townhalls etc.)
- Lead internship and early career programming in partnership with the business.
- Manage talent programs based on business and employee needs aligning to objectives and employee listening.
- Represent the People Team across committees focusing on community, DEI, and culture enrichment activities.
- Support the Head of People, North America with committees and ad hoc projects, both for North America and globally.
Key responsibilities may be assessed and are subject to change from time to time based on the needs of the team and business.
In addition, all Partners Capital team members have the following requirements: - Responsible for ensuring all information security processes, policies and procedures are adhered to and any issues or concerns are raised with the Cyber Security team.
- Ensure full compliance with all local data protection regulations and privacy controls, and any related issues are raised via the appropriate channels.
Qualifications / Attributes
- Bachelor’s degree or related field
- 8-10+ years’ experience in human resources or human capital consulting
- Ability to operate and multitask in a fast paced and “results focused” environment with strong attention to detail and commercial approach
- Strong business acumen and the ability to connect People Team practices to business results
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trust, engage and influence at all levels
- Proactive and solution-oriented, with excellent project management, organization, prioritization, written/verbal communication and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Proficient in managing and resolving conflict in a constructive manner across all seniority levels. High degree of professionalism and sound judgement with understanding of when and how to escalate issues
- Ability to handle a high-level of confidentiality, discretion and sensitivity regarding employee information
- Extensive experience in employee relations, including handling complex cases and advising leadership Familiar with state-specific HC guidance to enable supporting client groups across the United States
- Quick learner with sound judgment
- Proven ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Proactive and solution-oriented, with proven success in supporting large-scale initiatives within an organization
- Intellectually curious, adaptable and inclusive team player willing to do whatever it takes to contribute to the success of the business
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
