Fund Controller, Senior Associate

London

Position Description

The Fund Controller is a critical role on the Fund Finance team supporting the operational infrastructure of Partners Capital’s $21+ billion global fund platform. This individual will work closely with senior operations and investment colleagues to ensure the firm’s funds are supported in a manner consistent with institutional best practices.

Supporting day-to-day central fund finance operations across 90+ multi-asset class vehicles, the Fund Controller will contribute to evaluating new fund structures, supporting third-party relationships, applying technical accounting standards, and helping implement scalable, technology-enabled systems — including AI-driven tooling — that support the firm’s continued expansion.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting skills with sound judgment, technology fluency (including practical experience with AI and automation), and the ability to collaborate effectively across the business.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the below:

Team Leadership and Fund Oversight: You will work within the Hedge Fund pod in the Fund Finance team, contributing to technical quality and process rigor and helping mentor more junior team members. You will support core functions within our hedge funds, including NAV oversight, cash management, and investor flows.

Service Provider Coordination and Controls: You will coordinate day-to-day interactions with third-party fund administrators and custodians, supporting service quality and helping manage these relationships. You will contribute to continuous improvement across systems, controls, and processes, helping identify and close operational risk across the function. Examples of such projects could include participating in new technology initiatives such as system onboarding and automating key processes with AI.

Cross-Functional Partnership: You will work effectively with global PMs, client, legal, compliance and operations teams, helping ensure fund finance considerations are reflected in operational decisions. You will support senior investment leadership on fund launches, structural changes, and firm-wide initiatives, and contribute to operational due diligence for new mandates, technology upgrades, and broader business development activity.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for ensuring all information security processes, policies and procedures are adhered to and any issues or concerns are raised with the Cyber Security team.
  • Ensure full compliance with all local data protection regulations and privacy controls, and any related issues are raised via the appropriate channels.

Key Requirements

We seek a high-performing professional who brings both technical strength and strong collaboration skills.

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
  • Approximately 4-7 years’ experience from an alternative investment firm, public accounting firm, and/or fund administrator.
  • Experience with hedge funds, registered funds and / or private equity accounting and operations.
  • Knowledge of partnership accounting, private fund structures, fee structures, and investment transactions.
  • ACA or equivalent professional qualification is strongly favored.
  • Solid working knowledge of fund structures, liquidity mechanics, fee models, and multi-asset strategies.
  • Exposure to mentoring or developing other team members.
  • Experience leveraging technology to improve finance operations, including hands-on use of AI/automation tools and participation in evaluation of technology vendors.
  • Strong technical accounting skills with the ability to apply GAAP accounting rules accurately and communicate findings clearly.
  • Experience working with auditors, administrators, banks, and other third parties.
  • High degree of ownership, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Advanced analytical capability; strong Excel skills required, experience with data visualization tools such as PowerBI preferred.
