Position Description

Partners Capital is seeking a Principal to join the Data, Analytics & Performance Reporting team within Investment Research Operations. This team is responsible for institutionalizing and governing data, as well as delivering scalable analytics and performance reporting for our proprietary pooled vehicle program. This is a fast-moving team within a growing 400+ person company. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong data orientation and prior management experience who will thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.

The Data, Analytics and Performance Reporting team is responsible for ensuring that the data required to support our investment program is current, accurate and maintained within our systems with a high degree of timeliness and accuracy. This team is responsible for delivering performance reporting for the Firm’s proprietary pooled vehicles to external clients as well as the firm’s Board of Directors on a quarterly basis. In addition, the team liaises with the firm’s central data management and technology teams to define and publish additive data sets and scalable analytics to support greater efficiency across the Investment Research Team.

This is a leadership role and will include managing a team of associates as well as third party vendors and team augmentation resources.

  • Consolidate data collection efforts across Investment Research and take ownership for timeliness and quality of governed data sets
  • Collaborate with other global functions, including Investment Research, Product Services and Data Management to agree on additional functions to onboard, and to deliver standards and metrics for monitoring
  • Identify process and automation improvements and develop business and/or development requirements to support project prioritization and contribute to increased team efficiency
  • Oversee and own data and service provider relationships utilized by the team and ensure all SLAs are met
  • Utilizing visualization tools and available or custom data sources, prototype and ultimately deliver creative and rapid solutions to facilitate regular or ad-hoc analyses
  • Facilitate the resolution of data issues between the investment team and data owners across the organization
  • Implement processes and procedures for the team and ensure adherence. Ensure procedure documentation is current and accessible
  • Manage position and transaction reconciliations for all Pooled Vehicle products, ensuring ad-hoc and periodic performance estimates and finalized reporting are fully accurate and signed-off
  • Deliver Pooled Vehicle performance reporting (including attribution) to internal teams, working directly with Compliance function to ensure all delivered materials meet disclosure requirements

You will take a leadership role and focus on team development and on managing, developing, and mentoring junior team members who will support you in a range of responsibilities.

Key responsibilities may be assessed and are subject to change from time to time based on the needs of the business. The individual may be required to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications / Attributes

The ideal candidate is intellectually curious and possesses strong analytical and managerial skills. Success in this role requires balancing individual deliverables while additionally delivering consistent and reliable team output. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills are required to thrive in our collaborative and fast-moving environment.

  • 6-10 years’ experience managing investment operations for performance reporting and/or experience managing investment data teams
  • Experience calculating investment performance and attribution across asset classes (including time-weighted returns, IRRs and PMEs)
  • Proficient understanding of investment data sets and vehicle structures, including dealing terms and fee structures in commingled and bespoke investment products
  • Prior experience managing third-party vendors or contract team resources
  • Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Technical skills such as SQL, PowerBI, Excel, Power Automate or RPA
  • MBA or progress toward CFA or CIPM is a plus
