TAA Best Practices for Endowments & Foundations

It is Partners Capital’s belief that, since the onset of the Global Financial Crisis, tactical asset allocation (“TAA”) needs to comprise a larger part of overall portfolio management and should feature prominently on the agendas of quarterly endowment investment committee meetings. The vast majority of active asset managers across all asset classes are finding it increasingly difficult to consistently deliver sufficient levels of outperformance to justify their high fees as good and bad assets rise and fall together. This underscores the importance of finding alternative sources of outperformance. However, profitable tactical asset allocation is difficult. It requires significant skilled resources, experienced in macroeconomic analysis and a rigorous and a disciplined and highly dynamic process.
